I don't think Donald Trump will cooperate
with Eliot Engel's investigation into his
Saudi arms deal
bby Nathan'ette Burdine: May 27, 2020

Folks, let’s just be honest, President Donald Trump’s belief that the Democrats are trying to get him anyway they can is why he isn’t going to cooperate with the House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Eliot Engel’s (D-NY) investigation into why the State Department Inspector General Steve Linick was fired during the throes of his investigation into the Trump Administration’s sale of $8.1 billion worth of arms to Saudi Arabia.

“As the House and Senate Committees with primary responsibility for oversight of the State Department, we intend to look deeply into the matter. We anticipate contacting your office in the coming days to request additional documents and interviews of White House officials related to this matter, and trust that the White House will cooperate fully with our investigation,” is what Eliot Engel and Senate Committee on Foreign Relations Ranking Member Sen. Robert Menendez (D-NJ) wrote to White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows a day after Steve Linick was fired.

Related-Eliot Engel told CNN that at his request Steve Linick was investigating the Trump Administration's Saudi arms deal

As far as Donald Trump is concerned, everything that he does is legal and Eliot Engel is just another example of a Democrat who’s digging in empty holes, trying to find wet muck to throw at him. Eliot Engel believes that nothing is further from the truth because, well, Donald Trump has a tendency to cause problems that others can throw right back at him.

Case in point, the $8.1 billion arms sale to Saudi Arabia. Eliot Engel’s interests in the Trump Administration’s sale of $8.1 billion worth of arms to Saudi Arabia peaked after Donald Trump fired the Inspector General of the State Department, Steve Linick, who was investigating the arms sale to Saudi Arabia during the time that he got fired.

Mind you, the arms deal happen last year and it did go down from a whopping $110 billion to $8.1 billion. Congress didn’t care, though, because the Saudi royal family is dirtier than a Mississippi cocaine dealer.

Those royals in the Saudi family don’t see the value in human life. They’ll drop bombs on women and children and take a machete to a human faster than a meat butcher will to a chicken’s head.

Don’t believe me? Just ask the families of the women and children in Yemen who lost their lives because the Saudi royals decided it was time to drop bombs on them. Or, you can go to the family of Washington (WaPo) Post Journalist Jamal Khashoggi who’ll tell you about how he ended up being nothing but body parts after Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner’s BFF, Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salam (MBS), sic his human hating hit squad on him for telling the truth about the Saudi royals love for killing anything human.

Being the dirty mofos they are, the Saudis royals take no responsibility for all the wrong that happens under their noses. Sounds familiar, doesn’t it?  It turns your stomach, doesn’t it?

Heck, even some Republicans got so disgusted by the thought that the Saudi royals will use the weapons they purchased from us in order to continue their human hating killing spree throughout the region that Republicans like Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) joined their Democratic colleagues in trying to overcome a presidential veto.

Due to Congress not having enough votes to override a presidential veto, the $8.1 billion arms sales deal to Saudi Arabia went through. Now, fast forward to May 15, 2020, the day in which President Donald Trump decided to do a Friday night firing of the State Department Inspector General Steve Linick who was investigating the $8.1 billion arms deal that survive attempts by congress to override it.

A person in his right mind would look at Congress’ inability to override the president’s veto as a blessing in disguise and would therefore just leave well enough alone, but Donald Trump, nuh-uh. He decided to cause more problems by firing the IG on Friday night. Anybody who knows somebody in the political world knows that those Friday night firings are evidence that somebody is trying to hide something they don’t want you to find.

Think Nixon. That fella had so many Friday night firings that he paved his own hell fire road that led to him being booted out of the White House. Donald Trump is doing the same thing with his firings of Steve Linick, along with three other IGs who were all investigating wrong that Donald Trump had allegedly done.

Eliot Engel, though, has to be mindful of the fact that just like in 2019, the Democrats don’t have enough votes, on the Republican side, to help the congressional Democrats to compel Donald Trump and his crew to cooperate.

And even if in 2022 the Democrats win back both chambers of Congress, they’ll still have to do what the Republicans have to do when a Democrat is in office; which is to convince enough of their colleagues on the other side that the issue they are investigating is enough of a concern to get Congress’ attention.

Until that time comes, there will be no one who’ll be able to compel President Donald Trump to cooperate with any investigation that will lead to a resolution whereby he will be force to take responsibility for all the problems that he causes.
